When someone mentions marking a driveshaft they are talking about the the slip yoke when removing it from the splines. You need to make sure it is put back on the same way it came off. If its not you will get vibrations.
The simply go on. The only ones you have to watch for are the slip yoke driveshafts like on the front. If you happen to separate the slip yoke then you just have to make sure that its put back together in a fashion whereby the u-joints are 90 of each other.

Once you get the pulley off clean the shaftkeywaykey and the inner surface of the pulley hole with either bronze wool or a microfiber pad. Steel wool can leave residue that can rust. Use a very thin coat of machine oil or vaseline on the surfaces before reinstalling.
Then place a bearing pull collar around the metal bearing and press bearing off with a press. A large hammer and chisel will work if no press is available. Install by sliding new bearing assembly over the splines on the shaft.

Jump to Latest Follow 1 - 13 of 13 Posts. And i for the life of me can not get the driveshaft out. I have un bolted the 4 nuts on the rear of the shaft to the diff and the 6 nuts on the guibo removing the 3 bolts i can get out.
Carrier bearing is un bolted too now from the looks of it the shaft. Mark the rear diff to shaft flange slip yoke at the u joint you disassemble at the carrier bearing and at the transmission to shaft flange. You are doing this so that when you re assemble the shaft you assemble it exactly as it was before to maintain its balance.
I found it was easier for me to remove the entire drive shaft and take it to. Move to the input side of the differential and disconnect the front drive shaft from the diff by taking apart the U joint. When you disconnect the driveshaft you want to make sure that you mark it so it goes back together in the same position because it is balanced.
Remove the drive shaft caps with a 516 ratchet.
