Hard to fill gas tank. If it happens at every gas station and not just one there is most likely a problem with your vehicles vent purge system for the fuel tank. When you fill up the vapors inside the gas tank need to move and expand. They do so through a charcoal canister and purge valve.

Theres no other way to work out when my tanks full as I have no way of determining how much fuel is in the tank to begin with.
Motorcycle riders have always had same problem with this type of nozzle. The solution is a small flat plate which you clip on nozzle to lock neck seal back. This will allow you to fill without having seal against tank fill tube.

This code indicates a problem with the evap system vent valve. A stuck closed vent valve will affect the fueling if air cant get out of the tank while fueling you will have a hard time filling the tank. You didnt say what yearmodel you have so the valve may be near the fuel tank or inside the tank.
Basically the tank vents into a charcoal canister and if the lines are blocked or if liquid fuel gets into the charcoal canister or vent lines the tank wont vent properly and the pump thinks the tank is full. If you want to make your gas pumping faster prior to your getn the tank fixedjust fill up a 5gallon jug or a ten gall jug and pour it into tankwould seem a little faster. Try to fill gas tank gas pump nozzle clicks off its not a problem theres just high pressure coming out of that gas pump your car wont take gas that fast try not squeezeing the handle all the way down. Turns out something from a gas pump must of happened from previous owner was logged in the tank. Looked like a small plastic rubber gasket tube. Fills gas normally now.
Just a heads up if someone else has this issue. Guess from the tech was someone filled it up with gas from a plastic carriercheaper pump and didnt use the funnel. The Low Fuel warning light is located on the instrument panel.
When it illuminates it means one of two things. If the light illuminates and stays on then your vehicle is running low on fuel. If would be faster if you fill out a 5-gallon gas can and then use the can to fill up your car.
Of course youll need to do it a couple of times to fill up your car from empty but at least itll be quicker. I know thats not a viable solution and you do risk overfilling your tank since you wont know when to stop. Apparently there is an actuated vent in the filler tube that opensshuts automatically and will shut in the case of a roll-over accident to prevent fuel from siphoning out onto the accident scene.

For E46ers you might want to check part 16117176011 on your car. It is a reinforced rubber fuel hose that sits between the tank and the filler neck secured on by a worm clamp on both ends. Over time as with all things rubber it becomes soft and does not seal as good as it did as well as being exposed to fuel on each fill up.
This condition may be caused by back pressure within the fuel filler hose. This back pressure trips the fuel nozzle prior to filling the tank or results in a hard to fill condition. Replace the fuel tank filler hose with PN 10353139.
