It looks like it is pretty difficult to get to the clamps at the radiator. So checking the top hose when its hot can sometimes give you warning.

Back then hoses typically would last four maybe five years before the. Hose replacements vary from car to car depending on the engine design. Hoses coming from the top of the engine engine outlet may not go 5 years.
I think the ones going into the engine from the radiator can go beyond 5 years. Go with quality hosesbelts origional factory or Gates etc Believe me it makes a difference. I pulled over waited a while and refilled with some distilled water and antifreeze still not sure what happened.
I squeezed and wiggled the upper rad hose to burp the air out important point - because 30 miles up the road THWANK goes the upper hose - blew right off. So I pull over repeat refill and found the next store to put on a REAL clamp. It has been a few years but I think the carbs need to come out.

While squeezing the hoses inspect the surface for small cracks. I believe the coolant is recommended to be flushed at 10 years but while youre in there might as well do hoses and thermostat too. I recommend going with oem parts again.
Theres a great write up on here for a flush. Kept it years longer and never replaced another hose. On the 240D I changed the antifreeze every other year regimen then and had to remove the lower hose to empty the radiator.
Hose was still good after 26 years but the radiator blew. If you do end up needing to replace one coolant hose we strongly recommend replacing all of them - along with hose clamps that hold them in place. Since youll need to drain at least some of your coolant out during hose replacement its also a great idea to replace your engine thermostat if its got over 100000 miles on it.

I know the Honda OEM hoses were built to a quality quality standard in the mid 90s and Im thinking about leaving well enough alone. Radiator hose replacement is recommended every four years or 60000 miles. If you are going to replace your hose yourself be sure to get the exact hose for your year make and model.
Additionally how much does it cost to replace a heater hose. The average cost for a heater hose replacement is between 185 and 207. I had a radiator hose blow a pin-hole leak at about 70K miles but mine was a 12 JKUR.
When that one blew I changed out both and kinda wish Id done the serpentine belt at the same time but I carry a spare so at least Im covered. With rubber its as much about age of the rubber as the number of miles.
