I use Delo HD EP2 for things that cant have moly and 5 moly in the pins and bushings due to using Delo for everything else its just easier. Plus a good quality Moly grease from a major brand for your loader.

Moly grease vs lithium grease. Lubrication grease is a mixture of oil and soap or another thickener. The portion of the grease that determines the compatibility is the thickener. Lithium complex is the thickener that is most compatible with other thickeners.
There are only a few other thickeners that are not compatible with lithium complex when using one of the Graco greases. Ultimately Graco does not make recommendations for the grease used in a given application because choosing the right grease. At Graco we recommend that any grease used in our automatic lubrication systems be limited to 5 solid content or less.
Moly is a solid. The portion of the grease that determines the compatibility is the thickener. Lithium complex is the thickener that is most compatible with other thickeners.
Grease is made up of 3 main elements. The soap base the oil and additives. Lithium refers to a type of soap base moly andor graphite are additives.
As for the best Id recommend a lithium complex most common or calcium complex soap base. Moly is beneficial in many applications not so good in otherswheel bearings. Moly is what is called for but I am sure any good grease is better than dry splines.
The moly is maybe slipperier and like a graphite black base. The drive splines are just splines like on a yoke of a drive shaft on a car or truck and many of them never get greased. The factory may think that the splines will very rarely get attention so Moly is.
Lithium or Aluminum based grease with moly meets Timken NTN and many other roller bearing manufacturer specs for wheel applications. The typical wheel is turning significantly less than 1000 RPM. From the data sheet on the Schaeffer 274 I use in most everything including wheel bearings.
Lithium is the base material in the grease moly is an additive in the grease and synthetic tells about the type of oil held in the base. The base is the thickener. Lithium or lithium complex is probably the most popular grease base material.
The base is something like a sponge. It holds oil in its pores and the oil does the lubricating. Another interesting test was conducted by Southwest Research Institute.
During a two year period 38 semi trucks police cars and city buses were lubricated with a lithium grease that was manufactured with 3 moly. In the case of the police cars it was found that the moly grease was able to reduce chassis point wear anywhere from 26 to 38. Types of Wheel Bearing Grease Calcium-based grease has high water resistance but only moderate heat resistance.
Lithium-based grease is water resistant and has a high tolerance for extreme temperatures. Lastly white lithium grease is a multipurpose grease that resists corrosion and repels water. Furthermore what is the difference between lithium.
This white general purpose grease is commonly used in household applications for door hinges drawer slides etc. It is stable up to 370-degrees and often used for CV joints. Lithium grease is made from lithium soap which is the salt from fatty acids it is a non-detergent soap that yields a stable non-corrosive grease.
Those minor differences in numbers will yield little difference in wearanything over 65 is good. Good to see you using a Moly fortified grease but IMO i would witch to a aluminum or calcium sulfonate thickenermuch better wash out pound out characteristics vs lithiumlithium will actually mix with waterand also the aluminum or calcium sulfonate thickener is nice and tacky sticky grease. MP Grease is a NLGI National Lubrication Grease Institute number 2 grease.
It is recommended for most automotive agriculture and light transport applications ie chassis lubrication and steering linkage joints. This grease provides the lubrication needed while also coating the components in a wash-proof layer of protection from the elements. White lithium grease vs Lithium grease.
White Lithium Grease has fewer additives thats the only difference other than visibility. The Lithium is just the thickening agent. The base oil is typically Mineral Oil which is relatively low concentration but I prefer to avoid using mineral oil around O-Rings.
So is Mobil Shell Pennzoil and many others. But it is not a Moly grease so will not lubricate your loader properly. Do not mix different types of grease.
The simplest solution is to use a General Purpose Lithium based grease rated NLGI 2. Plus a good quality Moly grease from a major brand for your loader. Caddyman July 5 2016 1101pm 3.
It is quite possible even probable that your moly grease is lithium based. I have always considered Moly all-purpose automotive grease to be suitable for any automotive application. Some mechanics dont like it because its black and nasty to work with.
Lithium refers to the. Lithium grease is made from lithium soap which is the salt from fatty acids it is a non-detergent soap that yields a stable non-corrosive grease. Nye Rheolube 362F-54 to 125.

I was just given a case of White Lithium grease. Lithium-based grease is also the most common.
On the other hand marine grease is used where water-washout is a deeper concern such as boat trailer wheel bearings inboard prop-shafts and powersports machines. Marine greases calcium-based thickening agents are water-resistant and tackier which helps it stay in place even when submerged. Texas Refinery Corp Crown and Chassis grease is about the best you can find for this application.
Anything with an aluminum or calcium base is going to be better than lithium. I use Delo HD EP2 for things that cant have moly and 5 moly in the pins and bushings due to using Delo for everything else its just easier. Lithium grease is based on a lithium soap and petroleum where regular grease is a calcium based soap and petroleum.
Other types of grease too but those seem to be the usual ones used. Moly or molybdenum di-sulfide is a dry lubricant additive not. Really a kind of grease.
When metal to metal contact happens due to. However I used Moly lithium grease for at least 25 years when I was a contractor and it was very good. Molybdenum disulphide has the unique ability to lubricate even when dried out as compared to other lubricating compounds such as graphite which lose their friction-reducing ability once dirt has penetrated the joint and it has gone dry.
